CBMC NORTHLAND AREA DIRECTOR – ALAN SMITH
August 24, 2012
Dear Friend,
Where does the time go?
Today feels like the first day of autumn, I’m not sure I am ready for long pants and socks in the evening quite yet. Seems like just yesterday we were working our way through “the winter that wasn’t” in Minnesota and already the days are getting shorter.
As I reflect on all the amazing way’s God has been using CBMC Northland thus far in 2012, a few things stand out:
- The May 24th Strategic Summit with attendance of about 700 local business people.
- Addition of about one new CBMC Northland Forums team per month.
- Our first ever Building Spiritual Reproducers Workshop that took place on June 20th at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Shoreview. This workshop taught participants how to use Operation Timothy as a tool for discipleship.
Of those three very significant ways CBMC Northland is impacting the kingdom, I wonder which Jesus would say is the most important? His words in Matthew 28:19-20 may give us a glimpse:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Over 30 years ago CBMC developed Operation Timothy as a study guide to help “Pauls” build into “Timothys” lives which leads to true spiritual growth. “Timothys” are challenged and encouraged throughout the process to envision themselves at some point becoming a “Paul” leading to “generational spiritual reproduction”.
Members of CBMC Northland have a long rich history of following this command from Jesus. Resulting fruit has been stronger Christ centered husbands, fathers, and servant business leaders.
How about you? Have you ever prayed and asked God if He would like you to be discipling someone? If He has prompted you to, when will you start?
Don’t wait or you’ll be saying again “where did the time go?”
