Northland Director's Letter December 2012

Of the various characteristics which Isaiah ascribed to Jesus in this well-known Christmas passage, the most meaningful to me on a day-to-day basis is Wonderful Counselor. When Jesus left this earth, he gave us His Holy Spirit so we could know the mind of God; and, He uses His children, speaking into one another’s lives, to provide wise counsel, advice, wisdom, and encouragement. For over 80 years CBMC has provided such counsel in the form of one-on-one and group discipleship. What a blessing to be in the position of both giving and receiving godly counsel.

Northland Director's Letter November 2012

I always find it amazing to hear stories of God's steadfast love during the most painful trials. Hearing of God's miraculous intervention, presence, and salvation in Mark Whitacre's life during our CBMC Northland conference this past month opened the way for attendees to share their personal experiences. A consistent message emerged as I listened to these individual stories: in every situation, these people were supported by others who joyfully partnered with them through prayer, time, and resources.

Northland Director's Letter October 2012

Guys, I just found out minutes ago....... we are in shock......please pray. These are the words one of our fellow CBMC members wrote a few weeks ago at the top of an email in which he outlined the unfolding of a significant, potentially life-changing event. His first instinct was to lean on some of the most important people in his life: his CBMC Team brothers. That team has been together through mountain top and valley experiences for over 6 years.

Northland Director's Letter September 2012

On this wonderful journey in ministry for over the past year I've found the best way to discover a person’s heart is while breaking bread and sharing stories. Stories are powerful in conveying messages and transforming lives. CBMC’s discipleship tool Operation Timothy, describes the power of stories in the Bible this way: Stories in 66 books, written over a 1500 year period by 40 different writers. Despite all of that, a consistent, complete message unfolds across its pages.

Northland Director's Letter August 2012

Where does the time go? Today feels like the first day of autumn, I’m not sure I am ready for long pants and socks in the evening quite yet. Seems like just yesterday we were working our way through “the winter that wasn’t” in Minnesota and already the days are getting shorter. As I reflect on all the amazing way’s God has been using CBMC Northland thus far in 2012, a few things stand out:
